Use Of EMS Machines

Electrical muscle stimulation is a therapy in which an electronic machine is used to generate electric impulses which travel through electrodes on the patient's body and stimulate muscles. Stimulation of muscular motor nerves is done by applying a low voltage waveform through conductive pads.

NMES physical therapy is performed to send a controlled signal in order to stimulate the nervous system causing expansion and contraction of muscles. This causes increased blood flow to muscles and hence the nutrients needed for the rehabilitation process are delivered more quickly. EMS machines are used for a variety of purposes.

Some of them are explained below:

•EMS machines are used for providing relaxation from muscle spasms.

•Retardation of disuse atrophy is done using an EMS machine.

•The blood circulation is increased by this device.

•In the prevention of venous thrombosis where immediate post-surgical stimulation of calf muscles is done using the EMS machine.

There are many manufacturers of these machines. All you have to do is to find the best one suitable for your use. You must always consult a doctor before you use an EMS machine. You must also learn the technique used while applying the electrodes to your body, along with the range of shocks that are to be given to your muscles.
