What are the various types of Insulation?

Various types of insulation are given below:

Wall Insulation – This type of insulation comes in 2 forms namely; solid wall insulation and cavity wall insulation.

  1. Solid Wall Insulation – This type of insulation comes in another 2 forms namely; internal and external insulation. The internal insulation is used on the inner walls of the house while the external insulation is used for the outer portion of the house.
  2. Cavity Wall Insulation – This type of insulation is used on the gaps of the inner and outer leaf of the wall. With the help of cement, the gaps of the inner and outer is sealed.

Window and Door Insulation – The window and door should first be triple glazed before insulation is carried out. This is done in order to ensure there aren’t gaps or spaces especially on the window. Furthermore, the glazing is done to ensure noise level reduces inside the house.

Roof Insulation – This type of insulation again comes in 2 forms similar to wall insulation namely; warm loft and cold loft.

  1. Warm Loft – Warm loft is used when the lower part of the roof requires insulation. The only drawback of warm loft is that it is slightly on the expensive side.
  2. Cold Loft – Opposite to warm loft, the cold loft is used for insulating the top portion of the ceiling.

Floor Insulation – When it comes to floor insulation, they are expensive. Therefore, this type of insulation should only be carried out unless you are absolutely in certain of need.
