Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium is accessible by numerous bus routes. It is around two and a quarter-hour to get there from Naha.
There is a Yanbaru Express Bus. Yanbaru Express Bus runs six to seven times from Naha Airport as well as the central Naha up to Ocean Expo Park. There is also the option to reach the park using local buses, however, it’s not the most practical route due to the lack of frequency and infrequent availability in Nago.
In a car, the trip can take approximately two hours, but it may take a bit longer, depending on the traffic. Follow the Okinawa Expressway from Naha to Kyoda in Nago then drive through to the Motobu Peninsula to Ocean Expo Park.
The aquarium first opened as Marine Life Park was constructed to host Expo Okinawa International Ocean Expo in 1975. The aquarium was renovated in 2002. Following its relaunch, the aquarium received the 50 millionth person visit in 2015. The aquarium has around 680 species.
